The number being as large as 1900% in 2020. However, everybody needs to take a deep look into themselves. Asian hate has been around for a long time.  This is not something that has simply started because of the covid-19 crisis only. The discrimination against Asians has been there for a long time. It has even been visible as a kid, where people would make fun of the eyes of Asians and pull their own eyes wide to make a mockery of it. It wasn’t only the appearance, but the food as well, and the mentioning of dogs and more to just be blatantly disrespectful.  Every people really need to be respected even what race they came from.

Why Asian Hate Has Been Around for a Long Time

It is important not to pretend that this is a new concept because it is not. Everybody has a responsibility, and business leaders have a role to play in this as well. Many employees in companies have chosen to work at home instead of going to the office because of the fear of getting attacked on the way to work or the way home. Simply a gesture of checking up on your employees and making sure that they feel okay would go a long way.

It might sound like a simple task, but caring and expressing empathy are lacking in today’s society. Asian hate has been around for a long time because it is surrounded by too many people criticized for appearance and skin color. They quickly judge Asian people by the status of their lifestyle living and surrounding.

So many people are oblivious to this matter and acting like it is not a problem. This makes the whole situation worse, with Asians feeling alone in this situation. We have young people that are scared of going to school because of the frequent attacks. The very fact that you would even have to worry about this in your life proves how problematic the issue is. The Asian situation is not easy. And it is not their choice to be born as an Asian. Born being an Asian person is not a sin, and it is not her fault either.

Business leaders have a significant role to play in the improvement of the situation. Educating internal employees about interpersonal racism that people take part in unconsciously could be addressed to spread awareness. Because everybody, no matter their racial background, needs to self-check their biases for the world to become a better place. Asian hate has been around for a long time will vanish.

Furthermore, this situation was not helped by the speculation concerning the Wuhan lab, which has subsequently coined covid-19 the “Asian virus.” This fueled a fire brewing in people’s minds, which unfortunately has played a big part in the sudden increase in hate crimes against Asian’s as we see right now.

Asian hate needs to stop

Asian businesses have been targeted for having their windows smashed and being vandalized. Asian hate needs to stop. Asian hatred has been around for a long time. If we are going to make any progress, everybody will have to take a deep look into themselves and realize that we can all do better. At the end of the day, that progress starts within each person, even within yourself.
